Privacy Policy for Ethnography Journal One of our main priorities is the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that are collected and recorded by the Ethnography Journal and how we use it. Types of Data Collected Personal Data While using the Ethnography Journal App, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to: Email address First name and last name Information Collected while Using the Application While using the Ethnography Journal App, we will collect, with your prior permission or as submitted by user action: User details including first name, last name, and email address; Entered questionnaire responses; Information shared via the reflection and design activities (i.e. Daily Reflection, Weekly Reflection, Design Activity, and Onboarding Activity); Information regarding your location; Weather information at your location; and Pictures and other information from your device's camera and photo library that you have uploaded to the app. The information will be uploaded to our servers. You can request that we delete all data that you share with us by contacting Dr Sophia Maalsen at sophia.maalsen@sydney.edu.au. Use of Your Personal Data This application is the primary mechanism by which we will collect data for the research project Hacking Housing: technologies, processes and practices of housing futures (funded by the ARC DE200100259). In addition to this, the app may use personal data for the following purposes: To provide and maintain the application: including monitoring the usage of the app. To manage your account: manage your registration as a user of this app. The personal data you provide will give you access to all functionalities of the app. To contact you: to contact you via email, telephone calls, SMS, or other equivalent forms of electronic communication, such as a mobile application's push notifications regarding updates or informative communications. To manage your requests: to attend and manage your requests to us. For other purposes: we may use your information for other purposes, such as data analysis and identifying usage trends. Retention of Your Personal Data Your information, including personal data, is stored and disseminated in accordance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. All original data will be stored on Google Firebase servers, with copies made on the research team’s devices. These copies and backups are stored on password-protected computers in line with the University of Sydney’s data storage policies. Data will be stored for a minimum of 5 years post project completion and then destroyed. The Ethnography Journal App will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Transfer of Your Personal Data Your information, including personal data and data from the design activities, is processed at the University of Sydney and in any other places where the research team is located. It means that this information may be transferred to — and maintained on — devices located outside of your state, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your personal data will take place unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information. Security of Your Personal Data The security of your personal data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Privacy Policies The Ethnography Journal App does not have any advertising partners. Children's Information Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Ethnography Journal does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 18. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our App, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
